CALL FOR ENTRIES - FOX SPORTS DETROIT'S
"APRIL IN THE D" SONG CONTEST

Entries are being accepted through Jan. 30 for FOX Sports Detroit's "April in the D" Song Contest which will provide the anthem for the network's fourth annual month-long campaign celebrating the city's passion for sports and the welcomed arrival of springtime. Details and official rules are available at Foxsportsdetroit.com, but here are the criteria highlights:

- Songs are required to incorporate a sports theme focusing on Detroit's teams and the phrase "April in the D."

- Bands or solo acts are asked to submit a video of their performance on DVD and no longer than 3 minutes, 30 seconds. All entries must be mailed to FOX Sports Detroit, postmarked by 11:59 pm on January 30 (submitted to FOX Sports Detroit, 26555 Evergreen, Suite 90, Southfield, Mich. 48076). To qualify, band members must be legal Michigan residents who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry.

- Entries will be judged on creative lyrical use, production quality and originality.

- Judges from a panel consisting of team partners and media representatives will narrow the field of entries down to 10 semifinalists.

- Online consumer voting from Feb. 21-March 19 at Foxsportsdetroit.com will determine the three finalists, with the grand prize winner announced April 1 during FOX Sports Detroit's Pistons Live pregame show at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

- The entry receiving the most votes wins a $5,000 grand prize. Each of the three finalists will receive a professional recording session valued at $1,000.

The initial April in the D theme song in 2008 was commissioned and performed by Los Angeles-based band Blacklist Union.
